WHY EXHAUST SYSTEMS FAIL AND HOW BD SOLVES IT

The factory exhaust manifolds on the 2011-2016 6.7L Powerstroke are prone to cracking and warping due to intense heat cycles. This can lead to exhaust leaks, reduced turbo spool, and decreased performance. Our heavy-duty cast iron manifolds are designed with thicker walls and expansion joints to withstand thermal stress, restoring proper exhaust flow and improving reliability.

  • Cracked Exhaust Manifolds

Often identified by a ticking noise when the engine is cold or visible soot trails near the cylinder head.

    The BD Difference

This leads to power loss and incorrect drive pressure.

  • Leaking Gaskets

Failed gaskets between the manifold, up-pipes, or turbo can cause audible leaks and reduce turbine efficiency, resulting in slower turbo spool-up.

    The BD Difference

Installing a complete manifold kit with fresh gaskets and hardware restores a proper seal and full turbo spool-up.

  • Broken Manifold Studs

Repeated heat cycles can cause mounting studs to become brittle and break, especially during removal.

    The BD Difference

Our M8x1.25 stud installation tool helps prevent issues.

  • Restrictive Factory System

The stock exhaust is designed for quiet operation and can be a bottleneck on tuned trucks.

    The BD Difference

An aftermarket system can improve exhaust flow.

Why do the 6.7L Powerstroke exhaust manifolds crack?

The constant expansion and contraction from extreme exhaust gas temperatures puts a lot of stress on the factory cast metal, which can eventually lead to stress fractures and cracks.

What's the difference between the 2011-2014 and 2015-2016 manifolds for pickups?

Ford updated the turbocharger and exhaust manifold design in 2015 for the pickup models. Our kits are specific to these year ranges to ensure proper fitment with the factory turbo and up-pipes.

Can I install just one side manifold?

Yes, we offer both driver and passenger side manifolds individually. However, if one side has failed due to age and heat cycles, the other side may not be far behind, so replacing them as a pair is recommended.

What does 'no-bungs' on the race pipes mean?

'No-bungs' means the pipes do not have ports for emissions sensors. These are intended for race or off-road use only and will require custom tuning to be used.

Are these exhaust systems street legal?

Many components, particularly race pipes and kits without catalytic converters or diesel particulate filters (DPFs), are intended for off-road use only. Always check the emissions status on each product page to ensure compliance in your state or province.

Do I need special tools to install a new manifold?

While standard mechanic's tools are used, broken studs are a common problem. We offer an M8x1.25 stud installation tool to make the job easier and help prevent damage during installation.
