WHY FORD 6R140 TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AND HOW BD SOLVES IT

From the factory, the 6.7L Powerstroke's 6R140 transmission is built for work. However, as torque from performance tuners increases and hook weight goes up, common failure points emerge. The stock torque converter can shudder or fail, clutches can glaze and slip under high line pressure, and excess heat can break down transmission fluid, accelerating wear on all internal components.

What is the difference between your Towmaster, Torquemaster, and Roadmaster transmissions?

Towmaster transmissions are upgraded for heavy-duty use and towing. Torquemaster builds are designed for higher horsepower applications. Roadmaster packages are for stock to lightly modified trucks needing a reliable, upgraded replacement.

Do I need a new flexplate if I install a BD Proforce torque converter?

Our Proforce converters use a 6-bolt design for superior strength, which requires our matching 6-bolt flexplate. Stock is an 8-bolt design.

What does the Transmission Pressure Controller do?

It electronically increases line pressure in the 6R140 transmission. This provides up to 100psi more pressure, increasing clutch holding power to prevent slippage on tuned trucks.

My 6.7L truck is tuned. What is the first transmission part I should upgrade?

For a tuned truck with a healthy transmission, a Proforce Torque Converter and a Pressure Controller are excellent first steps to handle the added power and prevent premature wear.

How much more fluid does the BD Deep Sump Pan for the 6R140 hold?

The BD pan adds 6 quarts of extra fluid capacity. The additional fluid and aluminum construction with cooling fins help lower overall transmission temperatures.
