BD exhaust brake with S468

Aloha, after my fixed vane swap, didn't know how much I missed my exhaust brake until this install. After my swap I bought the old air compressor BD exhaust kit. Didn't install it, its too involved, too many moving parts. So it's been shelved over a year until I came across the new setup a month ago. Looks to be an easy install and less time consuming. It was shipped UPS two day air to Hawaii. Hardest part of the install for me was unbolting the transmission crossmember. Start with supporting transfer case with a jack and unbolt crossmember, let the passenger side of the crossmember hang down to fit the longer downpipe with the addition of the 4" pipe adapter and reinstall crossmember. Another option to installing the longer down pipe is to remove your turbo and fish your downpipe from the top. I welded both exhaust extensions to end of down pipe and existing exhaust pipe for a cleaner look. I painted both exhaust extensions and cast iron unit with high temperature paint to prevent rust. In addition I wrapped both wiring harness's with 1/2" velcro aluminum heat wrap to protect the wire harness since it'll be near heat. I then connected the actuator plug and brake control module, mounted the brake control module behind battery with two bolts and fished the exhaust brake wire harness down to the exhaust brake. All the access wire to the exhaust brake was tucked and secured under the heatshield that is attached to the body. Unbolt heat shield, from wheel well to the exhaust brake, tuck remaining wire under heatshield and bolt it back up. I called customer service at Dirty Diesel Tuning, they mentioned no tuning is necessary and will work on my 2011 Ram. Only years that may need tuning is the newer Ram's. BD's stopping power is much better than factory and way louder. There's a loud swooshing sound at the end of each exhaust braking cycle which is normal. In traffic, it scares the **** out of drivers of the little EV's Honda's and Prius' next to me! Enjoy your BD exhaust brake!
